FTIR

Element 1 Engineering utilizes the MKS 2030 Process FTIR Spectrometer designed specifically for process and environmental monitoring. FTIR is currently the fastest, most sensitive and stable multicomponent measurement technology for flue gas available. Element 1 Engineering is capable of accurately measuring HCl concentrations as low as 0-5 ppm in hostile environments where there may be vibration and significant temperature changes. The 2030 is equipped with an advanced, high-speed data processing system so that samples can be acquired and analyzed in less than a second. The high speed sampling rate is particularly effective in providing real-time measurements while conducting Dry Sorbent Injection (DSI) testing for acid gas and SO2 control.

This robust multi-component sampling device provides a level of analysis above and beyond what is currently possible with manual EPA sampling techniques. Approved as covered under EPA Method 320, the capability of the FTIR to measure low levels of HCl in the 0-5 ppm range has been well documented. In addition, the FTIR is highly sensitive to both HBr and HF, effectively replacing Method 26.

The rugged portability of the MKS 2030 combined with an inertial gas separation filter allows for precise HCl measurements in almost any location. With many years of experience serving the electric utility industry, Element 1 Engineering can rapidly and cost effectively help clients determine the most effective means to achieve HAPS compliance.
